ludek wojtkowski, violin
Ludek Wojtkowski is a violinist and composer from Tucson, Arizona with a Polish background. He earned his undergraduate degree in violin performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music where he studied with former Cleveland Orchestra concertmaster William Preucil. While at CIM, Ludek performed the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the CIM Orchestra as a winner of the annual concerto competition, and placed second in the inaugural Carl E. Baldassarre performer-composer competition. He spent three idyllic summers studying orchestral and chamber music with members of the Boston Symphony as a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, where he received coaching from musicians such as Donald Weilerstein, Mark Sokol, Norman Fischer, and Edgar Meyer.
In 2017, Ludek joined the Atlantic Music Festival as a contemporary music artist, and facilitated the premiere of over 40 chamber works by young composers. He later earned his masters degree at the Yale School of Music under Syoko Aki as a Henry & Lucy Moses fellow where he received the Broadus Erle Prize in Violin. Following his graduation, Ludek joined the New World Symphony in Miami Beach directed by Michael Tilson Thomas, where he played regularly until joining the roster of Lincoln Center Stage aboard Holland-America Line ships where he played in a piano quintet across the world, with itineraries spanning from South America to Greenland.
Ludek relocated to Alaska in 2020 where he enjoys hiking, skiing and fishing, in addition to performing with the Anchorage Symphony, Anchorage Concert Chorus, Anchorage Opera, and the Anchorage Concert Association.
