UAA Recital Hall: Made in America

Friday, August 1, 2025 at 7:30 PM

America shows off its musical talents! Listen for “the old ragtime stuff” and a whole bunch of American tunes in Charles Ives’s barnyard second violin sonata. Leonard Bernstein soars with a song from his musical Peter Pan, and David Diamond lifts American spirits during the darkest days of the Second World War. Award-winning composer Jessie Montgomery’s work for string quartet, Strum, is our new music feature of the season. The program concludes with Barber’s poignant string quartet (including his famous Adagio) reimagined in a setting for string orchestra.
