Eliot HeatonViolin / Viola

Eliot Heaton is a Masters student at Indiana University studying with Kevork Mardirossian.  He is the Concertmaster of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra, the Indiana University Conductor’s Orchestra, and has appeared as a guest Concertmaster of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic and Columbus Indiana Philharmonic.  Along with his orchestral playing, Eliot also won the 2014 IU Stravinsky concerto competition and appeared as a soloist with the IU Chamber Orchestra. During the same year, he also won top honors at the Kennedy Center’s International Young Soloist competition.

A native of Geneva, NY, Eliot completed his undergraduate studies at Oberlin College and Conservatory where he double majored in History and violin. At Oberlin, he served as the Concertmaster of the Chamber and Symphony orchestras while also leading the Contemporary Music Ensemble in numerous performances and recordings.

An active chamber musician, Eliot is a founding member of the Geneva Music Festival where he has performed with artists such as Clive Greensmith and Ani Kavafian.  He is currently a member of the Bloomington trio with cellist Nathaniel Pierce and pianist Ilya Friedberg.  Other interests include reading, tennis, and baking bread.
