Joining ACMF is soprano Alice Pierce, who is a member of the faculty at the University of Minnesota Duluth as Instructor of Voice and Director of the Opera Studio. She received a BM and MM in Vocal Performance from Indiana University. Early in her career, she served on the faculty at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington and the North Carolina School of the Arts. During these years, she was a Metropolitan Opera Regional finalist twice, singing often in concert and opera.

In 1992, she moved with her family to Germany where she became a full-time soloist with the Brandenburg State Theater Staatstheater Cottbus. For ten years she averaged almost 100 performances a year in opera, operetta, musical and concert. Some of the highlights of her career there include the roles of Olympia in the Tales of Hoffmann, Adele in Fledermaus, Maria in West Side Story, Blonde in Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Oscar in Un Ballo in Maschera. She also performed in many other cities in Germany, as well as in Poland and Italy.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of the voice faculty at Western Michigan University from 2005 through 2012, teaching voice and directing opera. She is an active member of NATS and NOA, and has had many students win local, state and regional competitions. She continues to concertize around the United States in recital and oratorio. Ms. Pierce was most recently seen as Lyric Opera of the North’s 3rd Act Violetta in La Traviata, and with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra as soprano soloist in Mozart’s Mass in C Minor,. Most recent directing productions at UMD include Die Fledermaus, The World of the Moon, and three opera scenes programs titled Bedtime Opera Stories and The Doctor Is In and Opera Fatale! A second collaboration with UMD Theatre directing Kurt Weill’s Street Scene happens in May 2015. Fall 2015 will be Mozart’s Magic Flute in a collaboration with Graphic Design Artist Joellyn Rock.
